Message from Blessington CC PE Department.

Good morning students and parents of BCC.
As we move into our second week away from school and with all the uncertainty with the Corona Virus, we want to touch base and share some tips and reminders in how to manage our physical and mental health during these stressful times. Most of these involve planning out your day in advance and having a healthy routine.

  1. Try to develop a good routine.
Have a daily routine planned out. Get up early and have your exercise, schoolwork and mealtimes planned out. Ensure you are getting enough sleep and going to bed at a reasonable hour.

  2. Eating a good balanced diet.
Planning out your meals is important to help keep a balanced diet and keeping a balanced diet is so important for our physical and meatal health. Eat at specific times and where possible have fruit to snack when we get bored or hungry, outside of mealtimes. Eat a good breakfast to avoid excessive snacking throughout the day and drink lots of water to curb any cravings.

  3. Stay Active
You should be aiming to be active for over 45 minutes every day. This will go a long way to helping you destress and will also help keep you in a positive routine. There are many resources like the Joe Wicks PE class online which was shared in the last few days. There are hundreds of different exercise videos to follow on YouTube alone. Try a different type of activity by following a Yoga or Dance class. Learn a new gymnastics skill. There are a huge amount of possibilities.

  4. Keep Busy
One of the good things about having your day planned out is that it keeps your mind busy. Sticking to your routine helps you to stay and be positive throughout the day and gives purpose to your day. Learn an instrument, learn how to draw, teach yourself a new skill like sewing a wallet. Try not to watch TV or Netflix until after your dinner or don’t spend a lot of time on your phone throughout the day.

  5. Be Resilient Lastly, it is important to follow the social distancing guidelines that have been set out for our protection. We can get through this together. We need to look out for each other and show resilience in these difficult times. We can and will work through this but we all need to do our part. Let’s try to manage ourselves and set an example for others to follow.

If anyone needs any help in choosing of finding a suitable exercise plan or wants some suggestions on different exercises or activities, please do not hesitate to contact any member of the PE department using our school email addresses.

Kind Regards
